Fight Scene Day!

So, today is Fight Scene Day! Go to Crimson Ink to see everyone who is participating. Because I don't have a fabulous fight scene in my stuff, I'm posting my favorite fight scene through music, movies, and books.

MUSIC
Not all fight scenes are with people, some are just with one person struggling against himself/herself.

MOVIE
The best movie fight scenes, for me, are when the MC refuses to admit defeat. This may mean that he and his adversary die, but at least he never gives up. This scene from Gladiator always comes to my mind when I need to write a fight scene. Skip to 2:38 if you don't want to watch the background stuff.

BOOK
Finally, the best book fight scene that I've read (the one that maybe, might have had me shouting, "Bring it!") wasn't because of the dramatic physical action, but because of the dialogue and the detail in the actions of the characters. It's pretty well known and some people loved it as much as others hated it. Anyway, it's the final fight between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. Like I said, not much actual physical confrontation, but it had me on the edge of my chair and had me shouting at moments (which I will never claim if you ever ask me this to my face).

Fight scenes are great and they come in all different forms each as valuable as the next as long as it fits the story. Happy Fight Scene Day!

P.S. I'm sorry I haven't been around to everyone's blogs lately. I promise to make it up to everyone today. I finally have enough time!! (This makes me more happy that you'll ever know)

I don't have a slamming fight scene in my WIP either! Looking forward to reading others.

I like that scene in Gladiator as well. It's hard to watch though, but I guess he's happier joining his wife in the afterlife.

Hmm, my picture book is lacking in the big-time fight scene action. Shocker! Ha ha ha. :-)

I did better at this one than with "love scene" day. Perhaps I'm a bit bent, too much diesel fumes and too many trips around the field.
I ended the scene at the Lazy Farmer. I didn't have the discipline to do it right though...
Sir Hector brandished the gleaming sword of truth against the cruel curved scimitar of the evil Sultan. Sparks flew from the clashing blades. The evil grin of the infidel widened and his evil red eyes glowed from an inhuman fury.
The malefic malodorous madman fought with a fury from the very bowels of hell. Strange cries of fury escaped from his lips as he rained blows upon Sir Hectors shield of virtue.

Tamika, The few I've read show some great promise. :)

Aubrie, I agree. It makes me cry every time I see the entire movie. :(

Shannon, ha ha I would be extremely curious if your picture book did have a fight scene. :D

Buddeshepherd, nice scene!

Definitely a great book choice! I love that your fight scenes didn't deal with physical action because there is so much more to conflict than that.

I love the battle scene in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

You are a girl after my heart: Aspirations Galore. May the Lord favor you, Bethany.

I recently found "Whispers in the Dark" by Skillet, so now I'm in love with them! LOL

And I am completely with you on Harry Potter! *nods* Sometimes, it's the verbal fights that hit the hardest. :)
