Book up for Reveal: Forest of Hands and Teeth
Author: Carrie Ryan
Snippet:
Girl who wants freedom. Light: gone forevermore. Ocean, hope of what could be...or not.
Snippet Rating: Thumbs sideways. At the time I was conflicted. I thought the quality of writing was superb, but the topic for me didn't grab me by the throat. It actually kind of made me sad.
Reveal:
Thumbs down. I'm sorry to all who loved this story, but for me, I just couldn't get into it enough, though through no fault of the author. The writing was awesome! The topic of zombies just wasn't for me. If I was giving this a normal review, I'd probably classify it in the A BOOK category. See here for my scale. I would absolutely recommend it to zombie lovers everywhere based on the quality of the writing, but if you're not really into that...I'd check out something else.
Title: Graceling
Author: Kristin Cashore
Currently on page: 244
Snippet:
Girl with mad skills. Boy...curious. Connection=Perfection. Bigger world at stake, learning to change.
Rating:
Thumbs UP! I am really loving this tale. The author is weaving it all so perfectly. The characters have flaws, they are real, they are changing...I think anyway. There's so much to this book it makes my mind feel like a dried up sponge. I CAN NOT WAIT to finish. Literally, my super-awesome-sidekick-roomie had to take it away from me so I wouldn't read it when I was supposed to be writing. I could gush all day about this book. As long as the ending holds out, I think this might be one for THE BOOKS shelf...I know, not since Hunger Games book1 and Harry Potter before that, has a book made it to that shelf. See here if you're confused.
What about you? Have you read either of these or plan to? Did I crush you when I gave my reveal for The Forest of Hands and Teeth? (I'm sorry if I did) Let me know in the comments!

I love Graceling! I actually want to re-read it soon :) Glad you loved it!
I read TFOHAT a couple months ago and really liked it. It was my first zombie book, and I'm not gonna lie, I had a nightmare or two, but I got sucked in so fast. And the second one was even more intense. Loved them (but they both were very sad--my friends that have read it and I now say that any book with a super sad twist is "pulling a Carrie Ryan".
I read Graceling and I actually had a hard time getting into it. I don't know what it was, but I didn't even get hooked until more than half way through.
I like your review system here! And how neat to have a job at the library!
Both of those are in my TBR pile! :-)
I haven't read GRACELING yet, though it's on my TBR list.
As for THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH, I started reading that with no expectations. I'd seen a few bloggers say they really liked the book, so I checked it out. That said: had I known it was about zombies, I never would have read it - it was the first zombie book I'd ever read. And it WAS sad. Very. But I loved it. I was so moved by the entire idea and sadness of it all that I told my kids about it the day after I finished it (took me thirty minutes!). The entire situation moved me, for reasons I can't explain. I'm now a quarter way through THE DEAD-TOSSED WAVES, and though it's taken me longer to get into this one, at the moment, I'm completely sucked in!

I adored The Forest of Hands and Teeth, I'm sorry you didn't... I really need to read Graceling!
I started reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth but I couldn't really finish it, but I do plan on finishing it.
Great reviews!
NOT a zombie person. But Graceling has just advanced on my list! It sounds like my perfect cup of tea.
